In India, the festival of Durga Puja is celebrated with immense grandeur and joy. The streets are adorned with lights, there are beautiful pandals in every nook and corner, women deck up in gorgeous white sarees, and there’s joy in the air! As you gear up to celebrate this festival, we’re here to help you with some mesmerising and simple-to-do traditional hairstyles for Durga Puja that will go well with your outfit.
The classic wavy hair look is always in trend! Opt for this naturally accentuated wavy hairdo if you want to add the extra oomph to the saree. There are various methods to get this look right.
Method 1: Wash and blow-dry your hair, use a curler at the tips of your hair to provide a nice bounce to your wavy look.
Method 2: If you need a less expensive tip, then ditch the hair equipment and simply twist your hair into two knots, create buns at the nape of your neck with the help of pins and bands. Wait for some time and then let loose your tresses. The beach waves will do the talking!
Method 3: No curler, no problem! A flat iron can do the job too. Pick a small section of your hair and turning the flat iron away from your face, start pulling the iron slowly down the hair length. Rotate it downwards, pull the rest of your hair upwards and repeat this process a few times until you get the wavy look.
Not too complicated, easy to create and pretty attractive, the side swept hair look is for those who don’t wish to spend a lot of time in prepping their tresses. All you need to do is a middle or side partition in your head (as per preference), sweep it over on one shoulder. You can use a paddle brush, curl your hair to provide those extra waves. For those with nice thick hair, you could probably use a hair pin on the other side of your hair to let the side swept look stay in place. For the final sheen, consider applying the Parachute Advansed Jasmine Hair Oil that’s non-sticky, and leaves your hair looking shiny.
This is another hairdo that’s been a favourite amongst those who wish to keep it old-school and simple and can make for a great Durga Puja hairstyle. If you have medium or long length hair, then doing a wispy ponytail will definitely enhance your overall hairstyle. Depending on the density of your hair, use a hair bow that helps tighten up your hair at the crown position, allowing them to flow downwards naturally in the ponytail. Here’s a quick hack for those who do not like the bumpy parts of your hair, post making a high ponytail. Just below the ponytail holder, use a small size claw clip (this will add structure to your ponytail) and hide the bumps. Finally, pull out a few wisps of your hair over your face and you’re all set!
Flowers are an integral part of Indian festivities. So, how could we miss out on the quintessential floral bun? First, tie your hair in a bun by creating a middle partition in the head. Ensure to comb your hair properly to avoid any flyaways from appearing in the end. Create a braided bun at the back side of your head. Finally, to add the floral touch, you can use fresh mogra/jasmine flowers. Simply, pick two strands of the flowers, and with the help of bobby pins, secure them in a half circle shape over the bun. Your flower-covered hair bun is ready! This look just goes perfectly with a saree, accentuating the design of your blouse.
If you’ve got naturally wavy and bouncy hair, then consider going for this pleasing hairdo which is not too difficult, and not too time-consuming either. Create a middle partition in your hair and leave a few wisps of your hair near your face. Use a straightener or curler and twist those tendrils, creating small hair waves framing the face. Then, pull the remaining hair and tie them into a low bun with a tight bow/band. This subtle hairdo is a good option for those who want to provide a messy touch to the hair bun.
Well, now that you have these elegant Durga Puja hairstyles handy, start preparing hard for Navratri and Durga Puja.
